The mission of the College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center is to empower young children and their families by providing a safe, nurturing, fun, and active learning environment which develops lifelong skills for success.

The research and position statements of the Georgia Pre-K program, Bright From the Start, inform the educational practices of The College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center. In this philosophy of early childhood education, quality is defined by programming that is age-appropriate. A quality educational program is one in which the teacher facilitates learning by recognizing the stages of development in preschoolers and providing enriching activities and a stimulating environment that advance the child's development.

The Center offers an opportunity for quality early childhood education in a state-of-the-art facility to all pre-school age children in the City of Decatur. Pre-k classes and the Decatur Even Start Family Literacy program are included in the Center along with childcare for children ages 0-3 provided through a partnership with the Decatur-DeKalb YMCA.

Childcare, Ages 0-3: Provided by the Decatur/DeKalb YMCA.

Pre-K Program: The Georgia Pre-K program at the City Schools of Decatur offers a fun, child-centered learning environment for four year-old children. Through hands-on learning activities and child-centered teaching, children develop the social, emotional, and academic skills needed to prepare them for kindergarten.
